How to delete everything from my PC and start over?

its about 4 years old. i want to delete almost everything from it and start new again. what is the best way to do this? also, i have vista. should i upgrade to windows 7?How to delete everything from my PC and start over?
being four years old I would run windows 7 update adviser and see how you pc fairs before outlaying any money, free download from microsoft. It may pay to buy a new PC with 7 already installed? At least to upgrade the old pc , more ram,4GB max out, possibly new graphich card if not aero compliant, but you runing Vista? $122AUD for complete version or upgrade version which is a bit cheaper? and possibly look at the size of your hard drive, mybe opt for a bigger on?How to delete everything from my PC and start over?
If you have the Vista discs, format the hard drive and do a ';clean install';...when you format the drive it erases everything, so before you do it, make sure you back up all your device drivers onto a disc or else you will have to search them all out again on the net
when you insert the windows installation disk and reboot to the cd or dvd it will give you the option of reformatting your hard drive before you install your new windows. Reformatting will delete everything and i mean everything.
Yes yes yes. Upgrade to 7. First time Microsoft has gotten it right.

When you install 7 do not upgrade but do a clean install. That will give you Windows 7 and wipe your hard drive in one easy step.
Hi

Starting over has some important issues attached usually, In the case that you mention it should not be a problem along with the progression to windows 7 as things have changed in the software market since Vista. there is no longer the need for loads of ram as with vista but it is still an issue.

the basic level needs to be a starting point a single core running at 1.3ghz and at least 1gb ram for the base level, other issues around programs like office 2007 still require as much memory as the operating system if they are to run at a reasonable speed.

The limitation with a single core would suggest i suppose a 32 bit version, but as most processors in the last 5 years have been 64bit, there is no reason to consider using a 32 bit system. its just that some p.c. run better on 32bit systems and others on 64 bit systems.

Installation of a full windows 7 installation disk will install a fresh system. just put it in the dvd drive.
