How do i record with my webcam?

i have an old HP Pavilion dv1170us notebook PC, how do i get the webcam to record? because it already takes pictures, how can it record?How do i record with my webcam?
you need one software that can record your screen activities, something like Total Screen Recorder, which can record both audio and video of your computer screen so as to record your webcam.
